- Be Prepared - check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice
before departure. Ensure that you meet immigration requirements and you
have access to enough money for your trip. Enter next of kin details into
the back of your passport.
- Immigration - visas are not normally required for British citizens who
wish to remain for up to six months in any 12 month period.
- Security - be vigilant. Take care when drinking with casual
acquaintances and avoid unlit streets and parks where foreign visitors
have been victims of crime. Deposit your valuables in hotel safes and
carry a copy of your passport for identification.
- Zero Tolerance – do not drink and drive – the legal limit is zero. Do
not become involved with drugs.
- Insurance - compulsory for visitors to Estonia to have valid health
insurance to the value of 400,000 Estonian Kroons (£16,000) for the
duration of their stay. Additional comprehensive travel insurance is
advisable.
- Medical - no vaccinations required - however tick-borne encephalitis
is prevalent in forested areas during the summer months.
- Cars - drive on the right and pass on the left - headlights must be
illuminated at all times and original vehicle registration documents must
be carried at all times.
- Road Safety - pedestrians take extra care - indifference for marked
pedestrian crossings customary for local traffic.
- Consular Registration - we recommend all British visitors to register
at the embassy.
